Mid Ark Beagle Club was established in September 2009 as an American Rabbit Hound Association Gundog Division club.

The ARHA-NKC is the fastest growing registry and field trial association for rabbit hounds in America. With 170 clubs nationwide, the ARHA-NKC sanctions field trials for beagles. All beagles are eligible for registry with the ARHA-NKC.

Our hunts are held on the Wylie Cox Field Trial area on Ed Gordon/Point Remove WMA near Morrilton, Arkansas. This is a great place to hold a trial with a building that has restrooms, a meeting room, a kitchen, and plenty of kennel space.

For those that aren’t familiar with the ARHA Gundog Pack format its similar to AKC Small Pack Option. Casts are made up of 5 dogs maximum except for the winners pack which can be up to 7 dogs. All dogs are pre-measured and are ran according to size in either 13“ and under or 15“ and under.

The dogs are judged among other things on how close and clean they are on the line. Speed isn’t an issue but its usually going to take a pretty close dog that doesn’t overrun the line very far and stays close in the check area to do well in it. The dogs can run the rabbit as fast as conditions allow as long as they do it “right” according to the rules of this format. They get credit for things like not overrunning the line more than a few dog lengths, staying close in the check area, etc. Things like cutting, swinging, skirting cover, etc. count against the dog.

Whether your an active trialer or you've never been to a field trial before, we'd like to invite you and your family to one of our upcoming hunts. Chances are that you’ll meet some fellow beaglers, have a good time, a good meal, and get to watch some good dogs work.

If youve never trialed before or are new to this format and just want to give it a try, we will give you a 1 day membership in our club for $1.00 and you can enter your hound for $5.00. You must pay the $18.00 registration to NKC/ARHA unless the dog is already NKC registered. This can be done the day of the trial.
